PREFACE:

This document has been prepared by David Vinokur, Senior Counsel, IRB Legal Services, to assist the Board in the study of the new Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the related rules and regulations.

The Tables of Concordance in this document may be used to find the corresponding provisions relating to refugee protection in the new legislation and in the former legislation. In some cases, the cross-references are not a perfect match, because the new legislation and the former legislation have different structures, or because some provisions have been moved from the Act to the regulations or have been removed completely from the legislation.

There are four separate Tables within this document:

• "TABLE 1" lists the sections of the Immigration Act in numerical order and provides the corresponding section in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
• "TABLE 2" lists the sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in numerical order and provides the corresponding section of the Immigration Act.
• "TABLE 3" lists the rules of the Convention Refugee Determination Division Rules in numerical order and provides the corresponding rule in the Refugee Protection Division Rules.
• "TABLE 4" lists the rules of the Refugee Protection Division Rules in numerical order and provides the corresponding rule in the Convention Refugee Determination Division Rules.

The "Topic No." column in each Table is provided simply to make it easier for a user to refer to a line in this document. The topic number is not related to the actual section numbers of the Act and the Rules.
