ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF IRB GIC MEMBERS

MEMBERS OF THE REFUGEE APPEAL DIVISION AND OF THE IMMIGRATION APPEAL DIVISION ARE EXPECTED:

To fairly and expeditiously decide on matters brought before the Division within statutory timelines were applicable
To analyse all aspects of each matter that comes before the Division, in accordance with the applicable legislation and legal precedents
To interpret the applicable provisions of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, the relevant case law, the Division's Rules and the applicable international instruments
To provide reasons for the decision on matters brought before the Division
